Preliminary Planning of Chemical Substances Toxicology Database

Absrtact
To promote the managing efficiencies of the toxic and chemical substances from very beginning in Taiwan, the Toxic and Concerned Chemical Substances Control Act was promulgated on January 16, 2019. For supporting the administrative control of the competent authorities and in view of the amendments to the Toxic Chemical Substances Control Act and the upcoming expansion of concerned chemical substances, it is necessary to grasp the complete toxicological information of the control substances and prioritize the layout of the database and the operational management practices. The main results of this project can be divided into three sections. In the section ”Analysis of the boundaries and categories of the development of toxicology databases in Taiwan”, analyze the toxicological information of more than 10 items of commonly used international databases. Developing standard formats such as Substance Identification, Manufacturing and Use, Physical and Chemical properties, Safety and Handling, Acute Toxicity, Carcinogenicity, Genetic, Reproductive and Developling Toxicity, Environmental accumulation and Ecotoxicity, Exposure Standards and Regulations and selected 10 well-known chemical substances to complete the case writing. In the section ”Planning toxicological database information resources and future operational management methods”, propose that prioritize the inclusion of chemical substances, in addition to the toxic chemicals already in the possession, contain food safety substances, drug precursors and Improvised Explosive Device as the first group of substances expected to be listed and selected for inclusion in the database and also proposes a method of linking with the current chemical substance-related database. Finally, as for administrative support, we have also reviewed database, data references, data source audits and regular operation of the Toxic and Chemical Substances Bureau's leased database to provide feedback, and have completed three expert and scholar consultation meetings to discuss chemical substance database related issues.
